MODEL RELEASES

DEFAMATORY, HUMILIATING OR LIBELOUS USES ARE SPECIFICALLY AND EMPHATICALLY PROHIBITED!

Comstock Images are model-released for commercial purposes. HOWEVER, U.S. and International law does not allow "libelous" or "defamatory" or "humiliating" uses of a person's likeness even if a general model release has been signed.

Watch out!
Okay, listen: No matter whom you are buying pictures from, us or anyone else, there is absolutely no way we can overstate the importance of these model release issues-- if those photos have recognizable people in them.

MAKE SURE that the photo agency you are dealing with has signed and "perfected" model releases and that they are available. Do NOT make the mistake of saying to yourself that, well, if there's a problem, it's the photo agency's problem, not mine. It IS your problem and it can very rapidly become a HUGE one if you're not careful.

Take the time to learn what you need to know, and seek counsel if in doubt.
If you are engaged in an activity that requires you to purchase commercial imagery, if you have ANY uncertainty as to whether a particular use is permitted, it's a good idea to have things reviewed by competent counsel. Yep, a lawyer. That's true no matter which photo agency you might be dealing with. At Comstock Images we go to great pains to keep our customers out of trouble.
