SEARCHING BY KEYWORD

The most important thing to remember about keyword searches is that they work best as a START to your search, but once you find your "launch" images via a keyword search, you can refine through a category selection or an "Ask Angela" search. You may also refine your keyword search by using the "search within results" feature you will see at the top of any image results page.

Keyword entry tips
* Check your spelling
* Keep it simple
* If the compound or plural doesn't work, try the singular
* The more obvious the descriptor, the better
* Try "concept" words

Using AND and AND NOT to refine your search
If a keyword search yields more resulting images than you want to scroll through -- or off-target results -- try limiting it by making use of the terms "and" and "and not".

For instance, if you want a picture of a woman using a laptop, you would start by typing "woman and laptop" into the search box. If the results included too many pictures of women using laptops while on the phone, remove phone by typing "woman and laptop and not phone". If, in your new refined set of results, you find there are too many shots of woman and men in groups working at a laptop, change your search phrase to read "woman and laptop and not phone and not man". If you only want pictures of business women using laptops, try adding "and office" at the end of that keyword string... And voila! In this instance you are left with only on-target images.

Search within results
If you've launched a search that has yielded too many results, try "search within results" to further refine your selection! The search within results option is a check box directly underneath the search box.
